湯沢凧 Yuzawa Kites

元禄時代からの伝統を持つ湯沢凧。墨一色の「まなぐ凧」や極彩色を施された武者絵風のものがあり、天にのぼる勢いの良さは縁起物としても親しまれています。
Yuzawa Kites are a tradition dating back to the Genroku Period (1688 - 1704). There are “Managu Kites” of pure black, and brightly colored kites with images of warriors on them. They all soar in the sky wildly and are revered as lucky talismans.
